Newsletter stream #10 (08/2022)

Editorial

Welcome to the tenth issue of the process mining newsletter!

The Process Mining Summer School took place in Aachen in July this year – a landmark in the development of process mining, in Wil van der Aalst’s words. In this issue, you can read more about this memorable event and the associated Process Mining Handbook, published in open access! Mieke Jans, associate professor at Hasselt University, narrates her academic story, from the beginnings to her recent investigations at the crossroads of process mining and auditing. James Henderson, CEO of mindzie, talks with us about their low-code platform, the evolution of their company, and what he expects from the years to come in process mining. Sebastiaan (Bas) van Zelst, Head of Process Mining Research at Fraunhofer FIT, describes pm4py, the process mining toolkit for Python, and shares with us his experience and vision about process mining for industry and academia. Matthias Weidlich and Arik Senderovich, Workshop Chairs of ICPM 2022, introduce the rich selection of events and research topics to be discussed during the workshop day on October 24th. Finally, we give an update on the current initiatives aimed at fostering the dissemination of knowledge about process mining. Together with the presentation of a new dedicated page in our portal, we discuss the topics and objectives of the “Education meets Process Mining” workshop in its first edition this year.
