Initiatives on process mining and education

To promote the diffusion of educational programs teaching process mining, the website of the Task Force on Process Mining has now a dedicated page with a list of academic programs offered worldwide. Notice that the ones included are academic, hence vendor-agnostic. The programs are divided between in-person and online. If you are the teacher of one such process mining course but yours is not (yet) there, please get in touch with the team so they can include your course too!

This is not the only initiative in place! Process mining and education are reportedly two disciplines that can aptly complement each other. It was only a matter of time that a new venue specialised in their intersection materialized: Education meets process mining. The International Workshop on Education meets Process Mining (EduPM) aspires to be the annual gathering point for all the people interested in the topic, where state-of-the-art research is presented, but also experiences and resources are shared with the community, and collaborative initiatives crystalize. As with any intersection, topics include both directions: Investigating how process mining can be used to address challenges in the field of education (e.g., process mining for learning analytics, curricular analytics, motivation trajectories, MOOCs and blended courses, self-regulated learning patterns, …), on one hand, and how to improve the teaching of process mining disciplines (e.g., novel learning strategies tailored for process mining, new instruments to automatically assess specific topics thereof, systematic studies of how process mining is being taught on different educational programs or levels, novel curricula around process mining, …), on the other hand.
The first edition of the workshop is organised by Jorge Munoz-Gama, Francesca Zerbato, Gert Janssenswillen, and Wil van der Aalst, co-located with ICPM 2022.
