Welcome to the sixth issue of the process mining newsletter!

In this issue, Ine van de Moosdijk and Boudewijn van Dongen reveal a number of behind-the-scene details on ICPM 2021, which is going to be back to its live, in-person event format. For the end-user’s corner, we have the pleasure to publish a fast-flowing double interview with Ivan Neskovic and David Suana, Regional Solution Champion Operations Planning and Head of Commercial Sampling Operations at Givaudan. We explore the paved path and look at the new research frontiers of automated planning for process mining with a pioneer in the field, Andrea Marrella. Massimo Mecella narrates his academic story and introduces the next BPM conference, to be held in Rome in September. Coming back to ICPM 2021, the Workshop Chairs Xixi Lu and Jorge Munoz-Gama present the different flavours with which the workshops enrich our flagship conference themes. If you are a process discovery developer, you can read more about the Process Discovery Context 2021, announced by Eric Verbeek. Finally, the XES Standard Working Group invites all process mining practitioners, researchers, software vendors and consultants to take part in the Improving Event Data Preparation for Process Mining survey. The results will be of inspiration for the XES 2.0 workshop, to be co-located with ICPM 2021. These and more updates are summarised in a dedicated announcement of the ICPM 2021 organisation team.
