Denmark welcomes the process mining community!

ICPM community

Announced by Andrea Burattin

The 2024 edition of the ICPM conference is finally here (October 14-18 or “week 42” —in Denmark, we love to count the weeks), with many initiatives for a week full of process mining! You can see the program on the website (https://icpmconference.org/2024/program/), but here is a preview:

Monday kickstarts the conference with workshops that will allow everyone to both present and discuss work in progress and recent results. This year, we have added a new workshop modality: “fully interactive” workshops, which are workshops that do not have presentations but are just meant as a venue for actually doing research work.

From Tuesday until Thursday, we will have a mix of scientific work and industry presentations. From the academic standpoint, we have 21 papers accepted for the conference (https://icpmconference.org/2024/accepted-papers/), and for the industry days, the program is rich with keynotes, training sessions, tutorials, and use case presentations.

The demos will also be presented on Tuesday. This session will be interesting not only as tools represent a fundamental aspect of process mining but also because, traditionally, the community has set extremely high expectations in terms of tooling.

Friday is entirely dedicated to the Doctoral Consortium, where students will have the opportunity to get feedback from senior researchers about their research progress.

ICPM comes with some social events, too (https://icpmconference.org/2024/social-events/). On Monday, the welcome reception will take place at The Black Diamond (the Royal Danish Library, an iconic building in Copenhagen); on Wednesday, we will visit Tivoli and have the social dinner there. Tivoli is a historic amusement park located in the heart of Copenhagen. It opened in 1843, and it is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world. Walt Disney visited the part several times, to draw inspiration when creating Disneyland (https://www.tivoli.dk/en/om/tivolis-historie/tidslinie). On Friday, the PhD party will take place for the participants to the Doctoral Consortium and all the students who attended ICPM.

Some co-located events will happen during ICPM, too. You can consult the complete list at the following address: https://icpmconference.org/2024/co-located-events/.
