Newsletter stream #17 (08/2025)

Editorial

Welcome to the seventeenth issue of the process mining newsletter!

The preparations for ICPM 2025 proceed at a feverish pace! The academic story of the General Chair, Andrea Delgado, associate professor at Universidad de la República, opens this edition. We discussed her journey with process mining, starting from her initial experiences and extending to the present and beyond. And, of course, announcing the seventh edition of our flagship conference. We had an enjoyable chat with Daniel Schuster, managing director at Process Intelligence Solutions (PIS). Within the interview, we see process mining through a rather uncommon lens, as Daniel’s view reflects both academia and industry standpoints. The OCED standard is continuing its development process. Recent milestones and upcoming stages are announced by the new working group, now led by Dirk Fahland (TU Eindhoven) as the academic representative, and Julian Theis (Deloitte Center for Process Bionics), recently appointed in his role as industry co-lead. Last but not least, Eric Verbeek presents this year’s edition of the Process Discovery Contest, the most precious opportunity for researchers and practitioners to put their techniques for automated discovery to the test.
